Trough the wormhole with Morgan Freeman

14 April 2012, 17:07.

One of the most impressive narrators out there is veteran actor Morgan Freeman, and he’s lending his impressive talents to a new Science Channel program, Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman, which is slated to premiere on June 9 at 10:00 pm Eastern Time. Here’s the press on the show:

Academy Award®-winning actor and space enthusiast Morgan Freeman executive produces, hosts and narrates this exploration of the greatest mysteries of the universe. This new series, produced by Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment, seeks the answers to the big questions: Are we alone? Where did we come from? Is there life on other planets? From the latest work at NASA and private enterprise facilities to the latest theories from academics and researchers, this series looks at black holes, colonizing the planets, string theory and more. Science Channel invites viewers on the journey as Morgan Freeman picks up where Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos” left off and explores the new frontiers of what is beyond Earth.

Freeman is treading in popular waters, especially in the Discovery Channel/Science Channel family. Stephen Hawking recently started a show called Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking, which explores many of these same themes for the Discovery Channel. The Science Channel itself already has a similar show – the show Sci-Fi Science, which is hosted by physicist Michio Kaku.

The History Channel had a similar foray into this area, with their popular series The Universe, which featured a diverse range of physicists exploring the deep scientific questions of our universe through four seasons (so far) … a coincidence that may not be so coincidental.
